Merry Comment

thanks for the email. Christmas is barreling down on us here. Lots of goodies and loot for the mean art teacher today as she gets ready to take a whole week plus two weekends off... a truly merry christmas. Our daughter Caitlin is teaching an enrichment class today and getting paid! Returning to her old school to teach. Our other daughter Lucy is envolved in a Quaker retreat and is running a program there. We are lucky to have two wonderful daughters. Best of the season to you all!

Mean Art teacher.

Happy Christmas!

SantaHomey.jpg

Found Santa hanging by the side of the freeway in Minneapolis last month. Hopefully he's found a safer place to stay and has a warm fire going. Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Christmas and please think of those less fortunate then you through out the year.

We've moved on to a new grading system involving comments and rubrics leaving letter grades behind. The students seem to understand it but it sure is taking way more time than I have to keep the parents updated and understanding the new system. Seems like we spend more time documenting our work than actually doing our work.

It's really more interesting to me seeing how a child understands a concept then explaining if he gets it or not. Administrators and PhD candidates seem to feel we are a free research facility working for their benefit. I just know it's the children who will suffer as we all get a little frayed around the edges working through the weekends to learn new systems that aren't really that useful.

Well, we've had to turn off comments on the site as the online poker community has decided to advertise for free here. If you would like to post a comment please email it to us at (removed) we love to hear from you and will try and post more often in the future as the grading is almost done.

Again, the best of the season to you all... especially to Hermit Crab, the children, friends, family and neighbors. Peace.
